Balancing the Hustle as a 21 yr Old
At 20, juggling two jobs and internship and navigating school, is a whirlwind in itself. My days often feel like a never ending checklist, running from class to work, squeezing in last minute study sessions, and trying to figure out how to keep it all together. And while I love being busy, no doubt, it is exhausting. And let’s be real, while we can be all about the grind, sometimes, you need to breathe. And there's something about those nights where you can sip on a glass of wine, allowing the day to melt away slowly and peacefully. And finally get a moment of relief after hours of go, go, go.
It's those nights that keep me balanced, where the chaos is suddenly white noise. So what is that balance?
Balance
These moments are to fuel you, to fill your cup up again. It is a time to reset mentally, emotionally, and physically after non-stop days. It is a chance to step away from the noise, the pressure, disconnect from the constant hustle, and simply breathe- no deadlines, no emails, no expectations.
If you are like me, someone who is always juggling a million things, it is easy to put yourself last. But these nights are a must, are essential, giving us a little bit of our life back, feeling put together, and taken care of. It’s a reminders that we deserve some time to just exist without all the noice. So, if you are ready to dive into the essence of self-care bliss, let me walk you through my perfect evening routine.
Where Calmness Takes the Place of Chaos
There's no limit to what a night care routine should be like, but hands down, the first step is, disconnecting. It’s not easy though, my phone feels like an extension of me but hitting the ‘off’ button on all the stress, from work, school emails, and social media is a sigh of relief.
Once Ive disconnected. I move straight into a warm shower. It's my favorite way to rest, nothing more therapeutic than that. I like to make it as if it were a mini spa session, I like going in with a body scrub (Tree Hut) and lathering up with Method body wash, leaving me nice smooth skin. Oh and p.s the mango shea has such an amazing smell, it is a must! By the time i’m done, i’m already feeling lighter and better.
Not too long ago I was gifted a laser hair removal. It has been the greatest thing I’ve ever received. Once I’m out of the shower, I like to use my laser (ULIKE laser). It might sound like a lot of work (trust me the first few treatments were exhausting), but honestly, it’s become one of those things I look forward to. And the cool part is, the glasses you get to wear lol. Afterwards, comes my favorite part, can you guess… SKINCARE DUHH! If you want to know the steps I take to get the skin I have you can read my Skincare 101 for a full blown breakdown!
With my skincare done and my cozy pjs on, I grab a glass of wine and settle in for the best part of my night- movie time, this is my time to relax. I do enjoy sharing these moments with my special someone tehehe, we get to laugh and have a good time during movie time. Lately, I’ve been loving shows like Love Island SEASON 6 or any chic-flicks, if you know what I MEANNNN!!! They’re fun and perfect for those nights.
Reflect
It’s in these moments that I realize how important it is to create space for peace and calm in my life. No matter how busy things can get, taking time for myself is non-negotiable. And I hope it isn’t for you either. At the end of the day it’s easy to get caught up in the grind. Between school, work, and everything in between and we can forget to take care of ourselves. But Ive learned that self care isn’t a luxury, it’s a necessity. It’s what keeps me grounded and balanced when life is overwhelming.
So, if you feel the weight of your busy schedule, remember that it’s okay to hit pause. You earned it.
